my United 1-way ticket from RSW to LAX (via IAH) went from $488 to $678 to $967 in less than 120 seconds on Sunday 10/7. The first 2 purchase attempts were met with an "unable to complete transaction" dialog box although I did receive an email reservation confirmation for each attempt. Each time I reloaded the page the price went up until I was finally able to purchase the flight for $967. The elapsed time between the initial purchase attempt and the final one was less than 2 minutes.
All good points, but minutia. What Milton really revealed is the mispricing of emissions of CO2 into the atmosphere (still zero) and of insurance premia that do not reflect the risks associated with the consequences of that mis-pricing.
