I think >75% of Dave Ramsey's advice is pretty unhelpful for a person like me. But I think some of his smartest personal financial teaching is that "what happens in your house is more important than what happens in the White House".

But when V. own government restricts those choices to push his preferred social order, it’s cast as a return to human flourishing, as if the good life is an agreed-upon, objective outcome." Unfortunately this seems to be the modus operandi for most of our political class and, worse yet, we seem to respond best to this, a vicious cycle which indicates the strange mix of autocrat/populist class we seem to be creating and sustaining globally to lead our governments.

One of the most overlooked consequences of a big meddling government is that it acclimates people to relying on government to decide what is good and bad, which naturally leads to wanting to be one of those making the decisions.
